The Complex - Gallery, Dublin Fringe Festival (2022)

Opening Night is a sonic and visual meditation on the daily task of performance.

It is a live exploration of the audiovisual contract, is what we see, what we hear?

Taking place in an underground noise cabaret, Jane prepares for her performance. She listens to the space, and begins to excavate the inaudible sounds that haunt the theatre. Looking back on previous versions of the show and herself in the show, she questions her role as a performer and the mechanics of the stage. Ghosts of previous performances reverberate in the room. The anxiety of performance permeates. The doors will open. The audience will enter.

What begins as a live performance becomes a multimedia installation, a study of sound, staging and selfhood in the wasteland of performance.
