About

Mags Keohane is an Independent Producer working across theatre, dance and interdisciplinary performance. Recently Mags has produced Country OK by Siobhán Ní Dhuinnín at Cork Midsummer Festival 2024, To Be a Machine (Version 2.0) by Dead Centre and No Woman is an Island by Róisín Stack at Dublin Theatre Festival 2023. Mags also produces work for young audiences, is a member of Theatre for Young Audiences Ireland and was a participant in Meitheal: A Branar Initiative, Producer Development Strand 2023.

As a director Mags runs MINNOW Productions. Founded in 2019, MINNOW collaborates with artists to present innovative new theatre. MINNOW has presented the Irish premiere of Stacy by Jack Thorne in 2022 and a contemporary adaptation of Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome in 2019.

Mags gained significant project management expertise while working with consultancy firm Accenture Ireland for 3 years (2012-2015) prior to pursuing a career in the Arts.

Mags graduated with distinction from a Masters in Theatre Practice at the University of Glasgow and holds a Bachelor of Engineering from University College Cork.

  • Country OK created by Siobhán Ní Dhuinnín, commissioned by Cork Midsummer Festival. A dance project presented at South Parish Community Centre as part of Cork Midsummer Festival 2024.

  • No Woman is an Island  by Galway based artist Róisín Stack which will preview at the Black Box Theatre, Galway and  premiere at Dublin Theatre Festival 2023.  

  • Making Waves directedby Jess Rowell (2023) in association with Draíocht Blanchardstown, toured to Axis Ballymum, Riverbank Arts Centre, and Mermaid Arts Centre. An immersive multi-sensory dance theatre performance, designed specifically for children aged 8 to 13 years with mild to more complex needs. 

  • The Dead Letter Office by Mary Lou McCarthy (2022) presented By Mary Lou McCarthy in association with Ready, Steady, SHOW!, The Civic and The Everyman

  • Opening Night by Jane Deasy, Winner of Best Design, Dublin Fringe Festival 2022

  • Dubliners by James Joyce, adapted by Annie Ryan & Michael West, presented by The Corn Exchange in co-production with Smock Alley Theatre (2022)

  • Also for Roaring by Róisín Stack which premiered at the Black Box Theatre, Galway and  toured to The Belltable, Limerick (2022).

  • In It For The Long Run the debut project of Cork Dance Initiative (CDI) which premiered at Cork Midsummer Festival 2021 with the support of the Arts Council Dance Project Award.

  • Spliced by Timmy Creed a site-specific multidisciplinary performance premiering at Cork Midsummer Festival 2018, touring to Clonmel Junction Festival & Ennis Arts Festival. In 2019 I managed the UK premiere at Edinburgh Festival Fringe programmed by the Traverse Theatre and set up an Irish National tour supported by the Arts Council touring grant.

  • Director of Tatty by Christine Dwyer Hickey, dramatised excerpts presented by Dublin UNESCO City of Literature and The New Theatre (2020)

  • Writer- Director of ‘Súóg - The Irish in Rwanda’ a work-in-progress presented at Druid’s FUEL showcase 2019 and Scene & Heard Festival (2019). Development support from Cork City Council.

  • Assistant Director to Pat Kiernan, Corcadorca, on the site-specific production of Far Away by Caryl Churchill on Spike Island, Cobh, as part of the Cork Midsummer Festival (2017)

  • Writer- Director of “Play the Green” – A 35 minute audio walk through Burnbank Bowling Club’s past, present and many potential futures. A site-specific performance with community participation from Bowling Club members, Asylum Seekers and local Guerrilla Gardeners. This was a practice as research dissertation performance (2016).

  • Assistant Director to Ben Harrison on the production of Flo by Martin McCormick, Oran Mór.Mags managed the transfer of this production to the Lemon Tree Theatre, Aberdeen. (2016)
